Human Resources Generalist (Temp to Hire)

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR leadership. This position carries out day-to-day responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy and compliance, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and benefit administration.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and conduct new hire orientations.
Conduct exit interviews and process separations.
Report workers' compensation claims and assist with any follow up action items.
Maintain HR records and generate reports, as needed.
Advise and answer questions regarding human resources policies, procedures, benefits matters.
Represents the company for unemployment claims.
Complete employment verifications.
Location representative for the 401k plan administration and required audits.
Coordinate company events (flu clinic, blood drive, annual enrollment, holiday events, etc).
Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
Assist with or prepare correspondence.
Assist with annual compliance audits.
Assist with the administration of all human resources related matters and training administration.
Assist with employee relations issues including disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans and investigations.
Participate in recruitment activities, including but not limited to, job descriptions, post positions, schedule interviews, assist in career fairs, follow-up with candidates, etc.
Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
Travel between buildings.
Perform other special projects and duties, as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in related field with 2-4 years related HR experience or any similar combination of education and experience.
Past defense industry experience a plus.
Manufacturing environment experience preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment practices.
Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel with tact and diplomacy.
Must be detailed-oriented and provide accurate and error-free work.
Must be able to follow up in a timely manner and multi-task/prioritize in a fast-paced environment and with a sense of urgency.
Must work successfully in both independent and team oriented situations.
Experience using an Applicant Tracking System, Taleo experience a plus.
Knowledge of Costpoint and SAP experience a plus.
Must maintain confidentiality.
